Robert Reese, a Golden Apple Award winner, is a lifelong Pittsburgh resident who grew up on the North Side. He graduated from North Catholic High School and attended Duquesne University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Education and a master’s degree in Educational Administration. He also earned Instructional II Certification Social Studies 7-12, Instructional II Certification Mid-Level Mathematics, Instructional II Certification Mid-Level English, and a K-12 Principal Certification. Before coming to Saint Alphonsus (now Seelos Academy) in 2012, Mr. Reese taught for 14 years in the Diocese of Pittsburgh Schools and worked as a Vice-Principal. He is the recipient of a Golden Apple Award, also known as the “Ultimate Educator’s Award.”
Mr. Reese believes that learning is a life-long experience and his personal goal is to always end his day having learned something new or to have come to a better understanding of something he has already known and wishes for his students to also embrace education. His vision as principal and for the Seelos Academy staff is to help instill a love of learning in others, and model Christian values in order to make a difference in a student's life today to help make a better tomorrow for everyone.
In 2024, Mr. Reese’s love for the Pittsburgh Penguins Hockey Team reached a new level when he was nominated for and won the Pittsburgh Penguins MVP Principal Award. He is also an avid Star Wars fan, but most passionate about his two dogs and one cat that eagerly await his return home each school day.
