Mary Smolter has been teaching in the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh for over 30 years. A 2007 recipient of the Golden Apple Award for excellence in teaching and community service, Mrs. Smolter’s teaching approach is to challenge, without discouraging, and to model honesty, respect, and kindness. She makes classes come alive through various student projects that have purpose and meaning.
Mrs. Smolter received her Bachelor of Arts in Education and Library Science from Slippery Rock University and Permanent Certification in Elementary Education and Library Science from the University of Pittsburgh. She is also Middle School certified in Social Studies for grades 7-9. She continues her passion for learning and for history by pursuing her education in Holocaust studies for the past seven years.
A mother of 4 beautiful and successful daughters, Mrs. Smolter is blessed with 5 grandchildren who are the center of her world. She also loves to work in the garden at home and on their farm in Greenville.
