LuAnn Cottington is not only a beloved Librarian at Seelos Academy, but with her combined tenure of 20 years at the Saint Alphonsus Campus, a beloved librarian for many of our alumni. She has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from Montclair State University, PA, Instructional I and II certificates from the University of Pittsburgh, and Library Science Praxis certification. She believes that a love of reading can make all the difference in a student’s development and eventual career path by boosting ALL of the skills needed for success…reading comprehension, vocabulary building, spelling, and especially writing.
Outside of the library, you’ll find Mrs. Cottington in her garden, kitchen, or (you guessed it) in her favorite reading chair. She also loves to golf and spend time with her three children (all Saint Alphonsus alumni) and her husband.
If you happen to hear some new languages when you pass by the library, they are all from Mrs. Cottington, as she is currently studying French, Greek, and Hawaiian. And, like a good librarian she knows how to say ‘shhh’ in all three!
